If you’re interested in becoming a robotics engineer, chances are that you are hoping to make a lucrative career out of it. Studying to become a robotics engineer isn’t cheap, and most people want it to be worth it. So where can you make the most money as a robotics engineer? That’s a pretty tough question, but hopefully, this article helps you find the answer.

First of all, we’ll start with the most promising economies in terms of robotics. According to the International Federation of Robotics, some of the places with the highest density of robots in the manufacturing industry are as follows:

Singapore, Rep. of Korea, Japan, Germany, Sweden, Denmark, Hong Kong, Taipei, USA, Belgium, Italy, Netherlands, Spain, Austria, China, France, Slovakia, Canada, Switzerland, and Finland in that order.

The density of robots in the manufacturing industry is a good metric because the manufacturing industry is one of the largest employers of robotics engineers.

That list gives us a great starting point, and you will be better off working as a robotics engineer in one of those places as compared to other parts of the world. However, to help us start to narrow this list down, let’s take a look at the average salary expectations for robotics engineers in each of these locations, ranked from highest to lowest.

Average savings (after expenses) for robotics engineers by location

With this table, you have a more accurate estimation of the most profitable place to work as a robotics engineer. Do you have experience working as a robotics engineer in any of these locations? Feel free to comment at the end of this article if you feel our numbers are spot on, or a bit off. We will now take a closer look at the top 10 most profitable locations for robotics engineers.

The Top 10 most profitable Places to Work as a Robotics Engineer

10 – France

The average salary for robotics engineers in France is about $86,776, and even after taxes and living expenses, you are left with $31,016. That kind of money only makes the idea of living in such a beautiful country even more appealing.

9 – Spain

Spain is another country undergoing a robotic revolution in Europe. Here, the salaries for robotics engineers average out at about $72,974, which is less than in France. However, with lower taxes and a lower cost of living, you end up saving more here – up to about $31,779. The difference is small, but enough to put Spain at number 9 on this list.

8 – South Korea

With an insanely robot-dependent economy, it is no surprise that South Korea is on this list. Even though robotics engineers in South Korea only earn about $65,229, they spend less than 50% of what they make, taxes included. In the end, they get to keep $33,332.

7 – Taipei

Being one of the smallest contenders on this list, it might be easy to overlook this city. Robotics engineers in Taipei earn $59,411 but also save a lot on taxes and living expenses. In the end, they keep about $33,848.

6 – Canada

This is one of the robotics markets with the biggest potential. Robotics engineers here earn a respectable $92,921. Living expenses and taxes take out a huge chunk of this, but the engineers still end up with about $35,324.

5 – Hong Kong

Hong Kong breaks into our top 5 as one of the places with the highest demand for advancing technology. Robotics engineers here earn about $89,088, and pay relatively reasonable taxes. However, the high cost of living brings the bottom line to about $36,654.

4 – Denmark

Denmark is easily one of the most advanced robotics markets in Europe. Robotics engineers in this country earn $114,190, and even after spending over 60% on taxes and living expenses, they are left with $ 44,083.

3 – Germany

Whenever the robotics industry is being discussed, this country almost always makes the top 5 list. The robotics engineers here make an average of $99,783, only a few hundred dollars shy of six figures. In the end, they save an average of $44,407, and this is enough to let Germany edge out Denmark for the number 3 spot.

2 – USA

The USA is in many ways the leading country when it comes to the advancement of robotics technology. The robotics engineers here earn $94,836 on average and can save $49,253 which is over half of their gross salary.

1 – Switzerland

Switzerland was named as the country with the most wealth per adult in 2020. As such, it is understandable that the average salary for an engineer here exceeds any other country. Robotics engineers in Switzerland can earn a whopping $154,464. Even after hefty deductions for taxes and living expenses, they take home $69,182. This is even more than the average gross salary in some other countries on this list.

There are a few other places that deserve honorary mentions. Japan is renowned for its tech industry and is worthy of consideration if you are looking for more interesting job opportunities. It ranks 16th on the list. Singapore is another country that fits this description. However, because of the very high cost of living – especially accommodation – it ranks 20th on this list. The robotics engineers here save less than $10,000 of their salary.

Once again, it is important to note that these figures are estimates derived from averages of job postings that are available to the public. So make sure to do specific research before deciding to make a move. Also, there are a lot of other factors that would determine where you would want to build a career. Your paycheck is one of them, but be sure to consider all the others.
